Progression raids…  require Raid specs. 99% of all raid leaders will not bring you to a progression fight if you’re not raid specced. 1% of raid leaders have to bring their GM’s who have crazy Egon Spangler moments, but hate doing it.”

Said to my Guild leader who wants to run a resto/elemental spec so he can heal and dps in ZA tomorrow.

* so I won’t be expected to post quotes more frequently than that…

With the advent of Inscription, Blizzard has added yet another crafting profession which uses herbalism as its sister gathering profession. This means a few things. Well, at least to me it does.

1. Herbs will get very hard to find as people farm to level Inscription.

As 3.0.2 hits and people start leveling their inscribers, Their Herbalists will be picking every herb they can get their grubby little paws on. They’ll need herbs from every tier of the game, from Peacebloom to Dreamfoil and beyond. They’re going to farm the land dry. I had better get out there before them.

2. Herbs will become Expensive on the AH.

As we saw with Burning Crusade, prices for low level items for the new profession will skyrocket. Copper ore was selling for 40g a stack when BC hit. I can see Peacebloom going for upwards of 30g a stack on most servers, at least for a while.

3. I will become very very rich.

I have been gathering as many herbs as I can, granted, not as much as Siha, but still. I’ll do very well, unless I decide to level inscription. If I do that, I’ll probably just break even. Do I want to break even? No. I want to get my 5k gold and get me some epic flight form FTW. I could just wait it out, Farming herbs every night, stockpiling them to sell on the AH when Inscription hits and make a fortune.

Either way, it looks like Herbalists with a plan will become very rich indeed when the Patch hits. Let’s hope that I’m one of a few, rather than one of many. I would love to get epic flight on more than one character before I hit 80.

So, you’ve got a guild, and you just got 10 brand new level 70 players who think they’re ready for Kara? Are they really ready for Kara? Unless they’ve done it before, or done their homework, they’re probably not.

Here are some simple guidelines for Kara Readiness, from a guy who’s guild thinks it’s just about there. I’m not going to get too into numbers, as there are many other places for that type of thing. This is more of a general reminder type of thing.

1. How many tanks have you got?

Now, I know I said I’d not be doing a numbers post, but seriously. How many tanks have you got? If your answer is “We have a Prot warrior and a Fury Warrior, we’ll be fine,” my answer to you is this; no, you won’t. Unless you’re already running in T5 and ZA gear, you won’t be fine with a fury offtank. Get a real offtank. I don’t care whether you have two Prot Warriors, a Warrior and a druid, A druid and a paladin. It doesn’t matter much to me. But have two tanks, at the least. We look to have a good setup going in my guild with two protection Warriors and possibly a Feral druid.

2. I can has haels?

Along with Tanks, you need a solid core of three healers to start Kara. I understand you have a friend who solo heals kara runs in 2 hours with his Sunwell guild for badges and alts, but you’re not him, and your raid is not that raid. Look at it this way, most guilds starting in Kara probably don’t have Sunwell geared players. The tanks probably aren’t quite to the defense cap, and the DPS is probably not pushing out huge numbers yet. This means the tanks will be getting hit harder, for a longer period of time than the better geared players you’ve been hearing about. This means they will need more heals. This means that the healers mana will be taxed. It’s a vicious cycle. Bring three. Trust me. You’ll need them. At least until you get geared enough to finish the place on a regular basis.

3. I just hit 70 today!

Unless you’re an alt of someone who knows what they’re doing, Do not go to Kara. Please. Unless you’re jumping into an established raid, do not try to go to Kara the day you hit 70. Your gear will be sub-par. You will die. Alot. Do us all a favor and Farm Shattered Halls, Shadow Labs, Steamvault, All of TK, Black Morass(Dark Portal to some). Once you’ve got all the gear you need from there, hit up heroics for a few weeks. Please. Kara is not a place for you to gear up for the end game. At this point, if your guild hasn’t been there yet, Kara IS the end-game.

Last night, Maerdred moved to the dark side. He went and set up a second account, and with the help of the wiki over at dual-boxing.com and the software Octopus, he is now a Multiboxer!

Maerdred and Meardred are Tauren Shamans on the Maelstrom server, and they are just the best of friends! At least Meardred seems to think so. He follows Maerdred everywhere he goes. Maerdred puts up with it grudgingly, because while it is somewhat annoying to have someone follow you around, dress like you, groom themselves like you… They do say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

So, Maerdred pretty much goes about his business, allowing Meardred to follow along. He doesn’t talk to him often, but the kid’s become such an asset in combat that Maerdred’s even found himself Healing the little bugger.

They’ve become a pretty inseparable team at this point. They work very well together and after 10 very fast seasons neither one has had to use more than Lesser healing wave on himself more than once. With the combined force of these two Tauren, most foes have either capitulated or expired before getting a blow in.

At this point Maer and Mear are well on their way to outland, but have a long trip ahead of them. It’s possible that they will soon be joined by a team of mages, but that is still yet to be seen. Updates will be forthcoming.

Last night I logged on to PTR for a few minutes to make some tests. First, I spent some time talenting up. I got myself to 61 resto and still had things I wanted to take… ugh… I need to research the trees more and flesh out what I want and need.

So after that was done, I popped flight form, climbed to a reasonable altitude and dropped from the sky. Popped tree form and hit a quick triple stack of lifebloom. 656, 655, 656, 656…. hmmmm I remember that being higher in this gear, let’s go check.

Log in to live, fly to the same area, drop from the sky, tree, LB, LB, LB. 750, 750, 750… OH Crap!

So, I still have more tests to run, but PTR is so laggy, I think I’ll just wait. haha. and, I’m at work. I need to take some screens next time I test.

I’m not prepared for Illidan. that’s true.. Though I wish I could get into a guild that could run me through an Illidan kill before the patch hits, thing is, my Ally is on a server where the furthest progressed current guild is ad Supremus….

Yeah and spend $25 on a transfer I may not be happy with in a week? I dunno…

Does anyone officiate a guild Ally side which is willing to take on a Resto druid with experience up to Gurtog Bloodboil and, ummm. at least part of a Shadow resist set?  It’s a tall order, but I figure if I get an answer, I may get to finally beat the game… even though I won’t be able to beat the game…

The PTR is full of fail.

This is not to mean that I dislike the new content in any way, shape, or form. What I mean is, I was logged in for 45 minutes and I was able to effectively assign 17 talent points. 17. That’s all. I tried the whole, “Get out of populated areas” thing, but the flight master wouldn’t even talk to me. Port to Moonglade it is!

You know how Moonglade is. Well, you may not. some of you have only ever gone there when Moonglade is full of win. You know, that party thing, with the fireworks…. Yeah, that’s not Moonglade at all. Moonglade is, empty. I figure if you want to get somewhere where there’s nothing going on, Moonglade is your place. The exact opposite of Stormwind Harbor… Where did that thing come from??!?! It looks awesome. I can’t wait til the guy who gives flying tours actually gives flying tours.

Hopefully tonight I’ll be able to test something. Hopefully. It was after midnight when I logged in after all.
