Two posts in a week????

That’s right.

So. This post is about the new Privacy features of Blizzards RealID program. If you’re not aware, they just announced some changes to the program. You can read them by clicking that linky thing.

Basically, it’s Blizzard finally coming to the realization that people want options when it comes to their personal information getting out to people they do not know (Friend of a friend). I think it’s a good idea. I think it’s a little late, but at least they’re giving us options now.

The system isn’t perfect. I’d still like to see an “appear offline” option. Sometimes you just want to play an alt and decompress without “Hey can you tank ICC10 later?” or other such nonsense. Sometimes I just want to hop over to another server and roll a hunter just for the fun of it. Sometimes I want to do dailies on my alt without everyone asking when I’m going to log back in to heal a heroic.  Other ties I am glad to have people to talk to when I’m not on my guilded toon.

This is why I think options are good, and I think that would be a good option.

What do you think of the new options they’re giving us? Are you more likely to use Real ID than you were before? Are you less likely? Do you not really care at all?

Let me know in the comments.

I was reading Wow Insider today and I came across Tuesday’s Breakfast Topic.: “What drove you to reach the level cap for the first time?

That got me to thinking. Could I write a comment to their blog, or should I make a Full Blown Post about it? Guess which one I decided on.

Level cap was definitely not something I cared about when I first started the game. I was a very slow leveler, and I didn’t care about raiding or anything else pertaining to the level cap.

By the time I hit my 50′s I was in a guild that had previously been PVP based, and was getting into raiding. Not being into either I felt I was out of place. My friends were there, so I decided to get more involved. I caught up with one of the other officers and he showed me the ropes. He helped me level up and showed me what quest lines I needed for attunements. He helped me go get my Dungeon set gear, well some of it. He helped me learn how to heal effectively, and by the time I was 58, the guild got me into ZG runs as a healer.

So, Pretty much I hit the level cap for the first time to keep up or catch up with my guild.

What it really was though, was me wanting to feel like I had actually earned my Officer title. I was in the guild for 5 months before I hit 60. I had become an officer mainly for my work outside the game. I helped set up guild forums. I helped figure out the vent server. I helped design the website. I felt like other officers were Class leaders, or healing/tanking/dps leads, or raid leaders, I was like the Chief Operations Officer. I fit that mold and I ran with it, until the guild was in a raid and I had nobody to socialize with during my questing.

That’s what hit home first. I felt like an outsider in my own guild, and I wanted to fit in. I wanted new people to the guild to understand why this 48 Druid was an officer. I wanted to how that I had something else to offer. And I did. In a big way.

I feel that once I hit 60, and I started healing in ZG, AQ20 and MC I was proving to the guild that I was an asset, even though they would have already said I was… I wound up being main healer at a time when Druids were still used as Mana Batteries for the Priests. I was keeping pace with or surpassing expectations from almost day one when I hit ZG at level 58. That drove me to hit that level cap even faster, I figured, if I’m doing this well under leveled and under geared, what could I do once I hit 60 and start getting epics?

I held my own and shortly after being the low guy on the totem pole, I had people attempting to “out-heal” me. One of them actually did it once, On Snake Boss in ZG. Once. Just Once. Then he rolled a Shadow Priest and went to War.

I just haven’t had ANYTHING to say.

I’m not in a beta. I will not be writing about that. That’s a job for someone else.

I am on the PTR, but I won’t be posting about it because all I am doing is playing with addons and learning how to level a hunter, which is SUPER fun!!!

So Keep me in your Feed Reader, because I am planning a few posts in the next few…

Love ya guys!
