What better time to revamp my UI than right after a new patch when everything I know and love about my UI changes??? I know right!!!

Over the next few days I’ll be redoing my entire UI and removing addons which no longer work. I’m pretty excited about the project to be honest. I am fairly certain that I had a ton of addons which were all doing the same jobs so I’m going to get rid of them all and start fresh.

Before that happens though, I have to see what I really want to change and what I want to keep.

I know I’m keepnig the G13, but do I really need to change my UI to reflect that? Nah. Probably not. So what do I do? Dominos? Bartender? I’m used to Dominos, and it does seem to still work, but I hear Bartenter is pretty badass.

Do I stick with Pitbull or is there another frames mod out there that’s building momentum? What else could I replace? What else could I just completely drop? I don’t entirely know.

I’m hoping that hings like Autobar or Lunarsphere will start working soon, as I was in the process of deciding which to stick with.

We’ll see. I’ll post a “state of the UI” picture tonight if I remember. Otherwise it’ll start the next post.

Over the weekend I picked up a Logitech G13 Keyboard. For those who don’t know what that is, go take a look at their page.

It’s basically a one-handed keyboard designed specifically for gaming. What’s cool about it is how many keys are right your fingertips. Literally. I spent the weekend playing around with it and figured out a setup that will work for me.  If you take a look at the image below, you’ll see the key bindings I set up for the G13.

This setup allows me easy access to all of the 12 action bar slots. I generally rest my fingers on the 9-12 keys so those are 1-4 and attached to my most used spells. Other important spells would be right near them. The A, S, D, F keys are set to four other hotbar slots and then G and V are hotkeyed to often used Professions such as Fishing, Disenchanting, Milling or the like. Esc is obvious, and the ` key is just for a stopcast macro. Cycle Targets is exactly what it says. It works like Tab. Alt allows me to swap my bars and get 16 new spells for a total of 32 accessible spells.

This Screenshot shows you my main bar setup. Innervate would be slot 7 and HT is Slot 1. I set this up in dominos on my Tauren Druid alt in about 10 minutes earlier this weekend. The four keys below those are some of the situational buttons which I need to get at quickly without thinking. The Druid bar is not hotkeyed to anything, but I may change that.

This shows when Alt is pressed. It changes my entire bar, so I can have less buttons showing on the screen at a time. The main issue with this will be learning the positions of the secondary buttons, as I will not always be looking at them.

I hope this was interesting to at least someone, and will actually be the precursor to a fully revamped UI come 4.0 or Cataclysm.

Any Questions, Comments (other than how horrid my spell placement is), Concerns? Leave it in the comments.
