Last group I was in was Heroic HoR and the Ret pally kept using spells 1-2 ranks below the max. I wish I could say that was the reason we kept wiping but there was far more going on than that. Remember, back in the day, when you trained a new spell rank, you had to update it on your action bars. Well, blizz fixed that and it auto-updates... on the bars you currently have active.
