I’ve been raiding for about 3 years on one character or another, and in that time I’ve come up with a list of “pet peeves” when it comes to raiders and things that they do. I am sure that some of you will think I’m being a bit harsh, but honestly, these things bug me.

I’ve been in two raiding guilds which were pretty different during raids from the start. Guild number one was mainly comprised of old school PVPers or Raiders who wanted a new casual raiding atmosphere with their friends, rather than the “Raiding as Job” atmosphere of some raiding guilds. We were casual in the sense that we didn’t have rules on how many raids you had to make it to or anything like that. But in an instance, we were anything but casual. It was go time, and we were ready for business.

Guild number two was pretty much comprised of people new to the raiding scene or people who had previously raided casually. There were a few former hardcore players, but mostly it was people new to raiding. This is where most of the Pet Peeves come into play. People who don’t quite get it, or just don’t care I guess. People not taking things seriously, can be a problem when trying to progress even through easy content such as Naxx.

So, here’s a list of things I hate during raids, in no particular order other than how they popped into my head.

AFK: If you leave after every boss, and show up just as the Raid Leader is describing the next fight. You might get some dirty whispers from Officers. If you have to go “2 min bio” and don’t show up for 20 minutes, yea… that’s not cool. Going AFK, other than during Loot distribution, or when the RL has called for a stoppage of play is, in my opinion, not good. We had some people who would skip trash entirely and only come back when the boss was about to be pulled. Those people do not raid with us anymore.

Talking to hear yourself talk: We all have one of them. Those people who log on to vent or teamspeak just before raid time, and never shut up. My most despised type of person. Talking just to hear themselves talk. The ones who ask the stupid questions or make the stupid comments. We have this one guy who constantly blathers on about this or that. And God Forbid someone Kill Mr. Bigglesworth. It’s 5 minutes of him demanding to be told who did it, and 5 more of him asking if it really changed the KT fight in any way when you kill the cat, and then 5 minutes of him questioning the existence of the cat on Wednesday because someone killed it already on Tuesday. This sparks a debate between the blathering fools, one of whom claims that someone killed KT between attempts in a run he was in, and KT’s total health went up on the next try. The other of whom claims to have only been able to kill KT after the cat’s been killed. We’ve been hearing this argument every Tuesday and Wednesday for 3 months. Shut the %$@ up!

Magetank:  We also all have one of these, you read blogs, so you’re more than likely not him. .5 seconds into any fight, this mage just lays into the Trash with an AOE, or hits the Boss with his biggest, highest threat spell, and winds up tanking the boss for a few seconds, the few that it takes for the tank to run to him. No matter how many times it’s happened, this Mage never changes his tactics, The healers generally just let him die and go on with business as usual. He never learns.

Warlock Tank: See Mage Tank.

Calling for heals: Whether you be Tank or DPS, if you call out for heals, you’ll probably make my blood boil. I am a healer. it’s ALL I do. There are 4 other people in this raid who all do the same thing. We all have Grid, or some other raid frame which shows us that you are taking damage. We all have an agro indicator on this raid frame as well. We probably knew that you needed heals before you even knew that the mob was looking at you. WE KNOW that you need heals.

Oh, you mean that’s what I’m supposed to do when your health bar shrinks? Really? I’m new at this. Can you come show me what to do? Rest assured, the healers know that you need to be healed. Pipe down Junior.

Calling for heals on others: It’s usually a Main Tank or Raid Leader who does this, but I swear, If I hear “MageX needs some love” one more time over vent I’m going to stop healing you AND the damn mage who grabbed agro from you because he’s an idiot, for the rest of the fight. Just as in the last topic, I KNOW who needs heals, and probably did before you did. Please do not tell me how to do my job. Honestly the only time I want a Raid leader or Tank to tell me how to heal is if I have an assignment and that asignment keeps failing, then I’ll take all the constructive criticism possible, But if MageX goes down to 50% health, keep your Yap shut. We’ll get to it, and if we don’t, well maybe he’ll learn not to AOE .5 sconds into a trash pull. Because honestly, with five Naxx25 trash mobs on him, any heals I throw on him will just put me at the top of the threat list once he Iceblocks or dies, so I’d rather not have 2 dead raiders on my hands. I’ll let you pull them off him.

Calling for my rez: It’s MY Battle Rez, I’ll use it when I see fit, not on Mr MageX who’s too dumb to understand Threat. My Rez is held for one thing, the Raid Leader, or officer in charge of such things telling me, me specifically, to rez a particular person. It’s not that I can’t think for myself, or don’t want to for that matter. It’s because that’s how it’s done. There are people in charge of this Raid Outfit, and if you’re not one of them STFU and stay dead. On a parallell track, if it’s after a wipe and the rest of the raid’s running back… release and run back. You’re not special. You should have released when the raid Leader told us to in the first place, but you were probably AFK, so you didn’t hear him, and if you scroll up the page a bit, you’ll see that going AFK won’t win you any favors from me.

Calling Curses/diseases: This one’s new and it’s very specific. Noth throws out Curses. I, as a Druid, am well versed in the removal of curses and poisons. I even have them appear in a specific location on my screen. When they happen, I automatically stop what I’m doing and remove them. I’m sorry my single target remove Curse spell isn’t fast enough for you, but there were 6 curses up. it’s going to take me time to get them all off. But seriously dude If you see them disappearing, don’t tell me that “there’s still a curse on MageX” because obviously we’re getting there. We’re going down the list. We’re not going to leave one curse up out of spite or stupidity. And seriously, why isn’t MageX removing his own Curse?

Calling boss mechanics: If you’re not the Raid Leader, shut up about Charges swapping, or webwraps, or locust swarms… Hell, even if you ARE the raid leader. DBM does it for me, and after the first time you see a mechanic, you should be able to point it out to yourself anyway. watch the timer, then when it gets to 0, look at your debuffs. it it changed from positive to negative, MOVE. If it didn’t, don’t. Why do 15 people out of 25 feel the need to call this out each and every time it happens? And for that matter, why aren’t the other 10 people calling it out too? Are they all like me, or are they the idiots who need it called out? The jury’s out on that one.

“Mark the guy I’m supposed to follow”: Seriously? Seriously? You’ve been doing the Heigan dance for three months. You still need to follow someone? Get out of my raid. Go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This game is too hard for you.

Rolling offspec on mainspec loot: This is the worst, because it takes a special kind of idiot to do it. “Oh, well nobody else seems to want it, I’ll just roll offspec on that wand. that way I don’t have to spend any DKP, or lower my EPGP ratio or whatever” Yeahhh… no. We’re going to charge you for it. You’re wearing a BLUE wand. you’re telling me that this wand is a Downgrade? I think not. If the guy who put together your “BIS gear list” for you is on the loot council, you might not want to try to pull this crap.

Wow. I’m reading through this and realizing that five of eleven are all the same person. Wow. Also realizing, I may have some anger issues. I’m taking some time off of raiding until I calm down a bit.
